MMALeague : In the run up to the opening of Season 3 MMALeague we will be supervising sparring sessions on Saturdays. Adult fighters only. Times to be arranged in class - we will post them to the WarriorsMMA Wall if we can.

Welcome back : Welcome back Chris & Mike. It's nice to have you back in the gym after your training with the H.I.T. Squad.

Also - Tony will be back in England for 2 weeks at the start of September & might be coming to fight with us in Birmingham! Team pizza?

New Kit : The next load of Rash Guards have arrived - if you ordered one, please bring £30 on Friday.

Diary Dates : Dates of up & coming fights can now be seen on the WarriorsMMAGroup in Facebook (you need to be logged in for the ink to work). The next few are ; MMA League Season 3 Round 1 Birmingham 11th September, War on the Shore Semi-pro Southampton 12th September, MMA Battle Arena (Class B or C) Kettering 18th September. Please talk to Nik or Luke (or at the very least RSVP the event in Facebook) if you want to sign up to fight.

Talking of Facebook - can whoever created the unofficial WarriorsMMA Group please rename it.

Summer Training : Training will continue as usual all summer with the exception of Tuesday 3rd August when Nik & Luke are on holiday - There will be no MMA that night (Muay Thai should be on as usual though). There will be a small interclub tournament at Warriors on 3rd September, to help get your ready for the start of MMALeague Season 3. It will be nice to meet some of Chris's students from Thame. Remember - the first MMALeague fight is only 8 weeks away - so don't plan on disappearing for the summer!

Chris & Michael have made it safely to The Hit Squad and seem to be having a great time training. Remember - those of you planning to train in Thailand in January will need to build up a decent cardio/strength base before you go. Don't leave it until December -start now! Talking of which - there are only between 4 & 6 people turning up to fight conditioning on Sundays - Use it or Lose it guys!

Adding lean muscle : Wanting to bulk up? Need to add lean muscle? Don't just turn to off-the-shelf powders. There is no substitute for eating right & training hard. If you're wanting to build up, talk to one of our personal trainers, or to Debbie who trains on the Women's MMA team. She owns Akasha gym which has an awesome collection of free weights & Iso Lever resistance machines.

Nák Róp Muay Thai launch : 18 students turned up for our Muay Thai launch. Somewhat more than we were anticipating. Gian put on a great class and was impressed by your attitude & work rate. Good work guys. For shin/insteps Thai pads etc... see Chris. We do have stuff you can borrow, but it is best for you to have your own gear. See you on Tuesday for the next class.

Youth fighters : Good luck with your GCSEs over the next couple of weeks. See you back at training soon.

Rash Guards : To go with our shiny new fight shorts we are re-designing the WarriorsMMA rash guard. It is difficult to find a supplier of custom rash guards & we have had to change supplier a couple of times over the past 3 years. Our current guy will only ship out orders of 3 or more at a time, so you will sometimes have to wait until there is a large enough order. Also, as some of you still haven't paid for the 2009 rash guard, it will be strictly cash in advance. There is a rough version of the new design layout below.

Sidecontrol : Thank you very much to sidecontrol.co.uk who have sponsored the fight team. We are very much looking forward to fighting in our new shorts.

Timetable Change : We have finally been able to add Jian to our coaching team and will therefore now be able to offer Muay Thai. As such, the MMA timetable will have to alter (for the better we think). The new timetable will look like this:

mmmTuesday : 6.30 - 7.30 Circuit Training, 7.30 - 8.30 Muay Thai, 8.30 - 9.30 MMA

mmmFriday : 6 - 7 Womens' MMA (grapple room), 6-7 Muay Thai (Boxing room) 7-8.30 MMA, 8.30 - 9.15 MMA Team mmmtraining.

mmmSunday : 8.45 - 9.45 (am) Fighter conditioning class.

League Results : The results have been posted at MMAleague.tv . There are a few discrepancies that I am querying then I will stick our results on here.

So far - Michael Z came second overall at Middleweight, Chris came second overall at Light Heavyweight and, if my calculations are correct, Josh is the outright winner at Bantamweight. Well done guys.

Team Run : Due to popular demand, the Team Run is making a comeback. The next run will be on Sunday 27th June. See Nik for further details.

MMA League Interclub : The first MMA League Interclub day will be Saturday 24th July. Fights will be on a mat & results won't be part of the main League. A perfect opportunity for those less experienced fighters to get competition experience. Please don't sign up online at MMALeague - I will book you all in together, so bring the forms & money to me by the end of June.

Seni 2010 : Congratulations to all our fighters. It was a long day - and there was some shennanigins due to fighters from other gyms weighing in late / not turning up. Never-the-less, you all coped well with long waits in crowded conditions. I will post the final results as they arrive. A few fights worth mentioning include Michael's TKO - body shots, Chris's match against Jody for the LHW league title shot, Craig's second fight which was watched by Royce Gracie and both of Josh's fights where he simply destroyed all. I have also since seen one of Seb's fights on Whoa TV.

Tonight is Tony's last training session before he moves to train in Holland. Good luck Tony & keep in touch. I'm sure you will be pleased to hear that I have finally gotten round to burning the DVD of the team photos.

Next Sunday is the first Sunday of the month, and as tradition dictates, breakfast for Team Members will be at my house after morning training.

Warriors Fight Night : Fight Night 16 will now be on 9th May. If you want to fight MMA, please tell Luke. If you want to box / kickbox, please tell John ASAP. (Just in - Postponed UFN)

Flu bug : There seems to be a flu bug going around the gym. Please do not come in to train if you think you might have a virus infection - not only is it bad for you, but you are probably infecting other team members.

MMA League : 108 fighters had booked in for Round 3. On the day, there was a record 87 bouts. Despite some parking shennanigins due to a football event at Banbury United, the day went well. A big thanks to Andy & the MMA League team for all their efforts - an awesome day!

Congratulations to Michael - 2 draws, Craig - 1 win & 1 draw , Mariusz - 2 draws and Chris - 2 wins. Unfortunately Tony injured his knee during his first fight - get well soon Tony, I'm sure you will be back in the Cage soon.

Special mention to Chris with his 11 second submission - a record I think!

Thanks also for all the team members who came to support our fighters, especially Anta, who was put on 'hospital duty' due to double parked cars.

Click here for the results after Round 3. For full results, pics & more, go to

Round 4 is at Seni on 29th & 30th May. Fights will be allocated according to time of entry with the first half who sign up competing on Saturday, the rest on Sunday - in other words, we need to all sign up at the same time!

If you are thinking of entering, let us know well in advance.

Kilimanjaro : Congratulations to John Shiels for successfully completing his climb of Kilimanjaro. He has raised over £500 for Katherine House.

If you sponsored him - please pay up. Remember - the trip was entirely self-funded, so all the sponsorship money goes straight to the hospice.

Happy New Year : Congratulations to the 14 of you who managed to struggle in to training on Tuesday. We will be training on Friday (8th) Jan as usual - but only come if you are safe to drive! If you need the Battle Bus to come & pick you up give me a text before 5pm.

If we ever cancel the class due to the bad weather - we will put a note on our homepage before 5.30 pm.

Sunday strength and conditioning starts at 8.45am - fight team members & competing boxers/ kickboxers only. I highly recommend weight lifting / cycle gloves as the barbell bars are freezing at the moment.

Due to repeated requests I have changed the format of the photos so you can select from a thumbnail. Uncompressed photos from 2009 will be put on CD-R and given to Fight Team member soon.

Sunday S&C : Known by Tom as 'bring your own bucket'. This will start up on Sunday 10th January . MMA Fight Team members or actively competing Boxers / Kickboxers only. Please bring a towel, weight lifting gloves (or similar) if you have them, indoors-only trainers / wrestling boots /boxing boots, plenty of water & a protein/carb snack for afterwards (for example cashew/almond butter on a rice cake or peanut butter & jam bagel or tuna/ham sandwich & an apple or a handful of brazils & a banana or a fruit yoghurt.) Please try to arrive well hydrated & eat a light breakfast around 8-8.15 am. You will need to drink around 500ml water before you leave the gym after the drill and at least another litre in the following 2 hours.

Christmas Break : The final class of the year took place on Friday 18th December. We finished with our traditional class tournament - this year in the cage for the first time. Congratulations to our winner - CHRIS and to our runner up MARIUSZ. The prize for student of the year went to DAMON.

Please rest up over the holidays as we have several fights coming up in February & March. Remember - recovery is an important part of conditioning.

I have now uploaded the photos of Fight Night 15. Uncompressed versions of all 2009 photos will be put on disk for all Fight Team members in January.

The gym re-opens on 4th January.

MMA League Round 3 : MMA Round 3 will be held in Fighting-Fit Gym! Saturday 27th February 2010. Go to MMA League to sign up.

New Classes : Starting w/c 4th January 2010 there will be two classes added for the Fight Team members. These classes are by invitation only and will focus on conditioning, cage skills and more advanced techniques / combinations. From January, all fight team members will have to be paying Gold membership. This works out that if you are currently on Silver membership, you will be only paying an extra £2.30 for each of the new classes !

The new classes are; Team training - 8.30 - 9.30 pm on Tuesdays in the cage area & MMA strength & conditioning (fighters from other disciplines also welcome, by invitation). The strength & conditioning class will take place 8.45 - 9.45 on Sunday mornings.

MMA League : 3 fighters took part in round 2 (unfortunately Chris & Craig couldn't fight this time.) Michael won one fight with a shoulder lock, Tom drew his first fight & sustained an accidental inury in his second (see the photos), and Tony drew his first fight and went on to win his next two with guillotine. Congratulations Tony, you are now joint first in your weight class.

Women's MMA : Our new women's MMA class started on 20th Friday. It runs 6pm - 7pm each Friday in the Grapple Room. Click here to find out more.
