  Kit List

Although we have a large stock of gloves etc... that you can borrow during class, it is important that you buy your own kit. Below is a list of essential items;

  •  4oz MMA gloves Fairtex/Twins/Sandee/Evolution or similar (it is important to buy good quality grappling gloves so the velcro doesn't scratch your partner) Both Vitamins & Minerals and Everlast do vegetarian gloves.
  • 14 or 16oz gloves (for full contact sparring) & Handwraps
  • Shorts –  Board shorts / Muay Thai shorts / Vale Tudo shorts / BJJ gi tousers- it's a personal choice.
  • Dipped foam/leather shin guards or shin/instep - you will need decent protection on your legs if you are also doing Muay Thai
  • Groin guard – Shock Doc (Flex cup) or SpiderGuard Web Flex
  • Good quality Gum Shield – Shock Doc 3 / Opro Gold / Brainpad. Look for one with £10,000 insurance.
  • Dipped foam / leather head guard - semi pro team only
  • Rash guard / T-shirt. Be aware, T-shirts tend to rip.
  • Long sleeve rash guard (for winter)
  • Personal med kit – Zinc Oxide tape / mediwipes, Elastoplast Extreme plasters, Melolin, EAB tape, Instant ice, cohesive bandage, nail clippers, spare protein/carb bar
  • Kit sanitizer – also, Halo clothes detergent is good as it is designed for sports gear. Gets rid of bacteria & mould even at low temps.
  • If you are training for a semi-pro fight, you will also need MMA sparring gloves, a headguard with face shield and good quality shin/insteps. Fighters are expected to wear team kit!

Remember - Team colours are black & red!

  • Good hygeine is an essential piece of kit - make sure your kit is clean before each session & that you have short fingernails & toe nails.
  • Air your gloves & sparring equipment as soon as possible after you use it.
  • Buy good quality kit - cheap products tend to be a false economy as they do not last very long and are often made out of materials that don't 'breathe'.
  • You must report any injury to your instructor at the start of each session.
  • Wearing jewellery is inappropriate during training.
